The HP DeskJet 1510 is an inexpensive inkjet printer that includes a flatbed scanner to scan and copy pages. It leans much more toward being a personal printer at home for occasional printing rather than being an office printer.

It has a very low paper capacity with no option for upgrade. Print speed and quality are average, but it is easy to use and has a footprint that doesn’t take up too much space on a desk.

A large part of its body is white in color, except for the fold-up paper input tray, which by the way is a rather unique take on design for an HP inkjet. Its control panel is on the top of the printer. It has four buttons which are arranged vertically at the left side of the top surface which include power button, cancel button, copy in black, and copy in color.

The panel on the top of the printer lifts to reveal a flatbed scanner, which has the capability to copy a single page in approximately 43 seconds and to copy a 15 x 10-cm photo in 1 minute 7 seconds.

The printer draws the ink for printing from two cartridges, an individual black cartridge and a tri-color cartridge. That last one is probably one of the key factors that drive away some potential buyers due to a popular opinion on how the ink cartridge is more costly in the long run than the individual cartridge.

Its ISO speed is seven monochrome pages per minute or four color pages per minute. First page out time is seventeen seconds for monochrome pages and twenty four seconds for color pages.

The HP DeskJet 1510 ships with starter ink cartridges. When they are finally empty, you can choose which of the two versions available you’re going to use. The standard version provides an ink volume for approximately 190 black pages and 165 color pages. The XL version provides more ink volume for 480 black pages and 330 color pages.

Buying a highly expensive printer with tons of bells and whistles seem to be more of a waste of money if your printing need is just a few pages a week at most. The HP DeskJet 1510, with its low paper capacity and price, is reasonably a better choice for low-volume printing.
