The Epson L6580 is an impressive 4-in-1 printer for use at offices with low to moderate printing needs. In addition to speedy printing, the machine offers a few extra conveniences, one of which can feed papers automatically into the printer for scanning dozens of pages.

Features and Highlights

Scanning double-sided pages is a hassle, especially when you have lots of them. A multifunction printer with nothing more than a flatbed won’t cut it. An automatic document feeder with a duplexing capability is a must have feature in this case, just like the one offered by the Epson L6580.

Its scan speed is 11 ipm for double-sided monochrome pages, and 6 ipm for double-sided color pages. Simplex scan is faster, which is about 27.5 ppm for monochrome pages, and 9 ppm for color pages.

Designed to feed 50 sheets into the printer, the sheet feeder sits on top of the flatbed which you will be able to see once you lift up the lid. The flatbed has a maximum scan area of 216 x 297 mm and can capture details as much as 1200 x 2400 dpi.

In addition to the flatbed and ADF, paper handling also includes three paper trays, split between two on the front and one on the rear of the printer. The two on the front can hold 250 sheets each. On the other hand, the rear can hold not more than 50 sheets of plain papers, or 20 sheets if you use Epson’s premium gloss photo paper.

Printing is made a lot easier with Epson Email Print. Even when you’re not in the same room as the printer, you can still send a print job via email to the printer. Remote Print Driver is more or less the same as Epson Email Print in that they both facilitates users to print from a remote location, but the former is only for desktop operating system.

The two features above are part of Epson Connect, a professional solution offering a few added conveniences for all Epson printers that support it. The other feature that an office would find pretty useful is the Scan to Cloud. Just like the name suggests, it allows you to scan documents which will be automatically uploaded by the machine to the registered email address.
