Epson L355 is a high-capacity ink tank printer. This type of printer was introduced in 2010 as a way out for those who desired a cheaper printer. Such printer is typically available for purchase at a higher price than equivalent cartridge printer, but its printing cost is significantly lower, thus saving more of your money as you use the printer over time.

Features and Highlights

Epson L355 is rather bulky as the ink tank is placed outside the printer rather than built into it. Consequently, it needs a larger desk. When compared to many other printers for home office, the printer is quite heavy with a weight of more than 4,4 kg.

The ink tank is in the same color as the printer. When the unit needs a refill, it can be unhooked from the printer and laid down on the desk. The unit has four sealed bottles inside. Each one is labeled to let you know which color is which. When you’re about to refill a bottle, you need to match the colors first. After it is refilled, don’t forget to hook the ink tank to the printer before you start printing.

Each refill is claimed to have a yield of 4,000 monochrome pages and 6,500 color pages. So, the ink tank won’t need refills as often as replacing cartridges. Since the cost of a cartridge replacement could be higher than the purchase price of the printer, just imagine how much money can be saved from a printer with an ink tank.

On top of the printer, there is a flatbed scanner with an optical resolution of up to 1.200 DPI x 2.400 DPI to scan pages. Open the document cover, and you will find the scanner glass on which the document must be placed face-down so that the scanner can scan it. The scanning speed is rated at 2,4 milliseconds per line for a black page and 9,5 milliseconds per line for a color page.

Four scanning modes are available: Home, Professional, Office, and Full Auto. The Professional mode is the most flexible one since it allows you to access and customize every setting.

Epson L355 includes one input tray that can hold up to 100 sheets of papers in various sizes. As for the output tray, it can only hold papers of no more than 30 sheets of papers.
