Canon MP287 is a three-function device painted in black matte with curved corners. It can turn a digital file into a printed material, and create digital copies and printed copies of a printed material.

A pair of genuine cartridge inks are included with the all-in-one printer. One is black PG-810 ink cartridge and the other is color CL-811 ink cartridge. Both are easy to install and have standard page yields which are probably suitable for low volume printing in a small home office.

The ink system on Canon MP287 printer is powered by an advanced ink technology called FINE Cartridge Hybrid which combines two different kinds of inks to achieve the best output quality.

The component responsible for spraying the inks on papers, the print head, has more than one thousand nozzles which is composed of 320 black nozzles and 384 nozzles per color. It is capable of delivering 2-picoliter size droplets. As you may already know, print quality depends on many factors, and the size of droplets is one of them.

The flatbed scanner has an optical resolution of 1200 dpi X 2400 dpi but there is the interpolation mode that can enhance the output resolution up to 19200 dpi X 19200 dpi. Printing files at the highest resolution is one of the possible ways to ensure that you will get the best print quality, but the print speed will be slower and more ink will be consumed.

The scanner lacks an automatic document feeder, which means that one has to place pages on the scanner’s glass plate one at a time. It is, however, probably not a big issue for those who occasionally need to scan a few pages.
