The Canon MG4270 may not be very fast at printing but is reliable enough for home or office use, not to mention it supports AirPrint that makes printing from AirPrint-enabled device much easier to do.

4-Color Ink System

Despite using four colors, the ink reservoir is only enough to hold two ink cartridges. These cartridges, PG-740 and CL-741, are also used by other PIXMA printers that use the same hybrid ink system. The former is a black cartridge and the latter is a color cartridge.

The reason why the color cartridge is less preferable than an individual cartridge is that it stops providing ink to the printer once any ink in it runs out. In practice, your print speed will vary, which depends on several factors. According to Canon’s print speed test, the MG4270’s top speed is 9.9 ipm for black and white documents, 5.7 ipm for color documents, ninety seconds for a single 8×10-inch photo with borders, and fourty four seconds for a single 4×6-inch borderless photo.

Scanner and Copier

The Canon MG4270’s scan speed is rated at fourteen seconds per A4 page at 300 dpi, while its continuous copy speed is 4.3 ipm with a First Copy Out Time (FCOT) of twenty seconds.

Paper Handling

A lot of printers with one paper tray usually lets users load paper from the rear, but the Canon MG4270 comes with a front-loading paper tray instead that can receive up to a hundred sheets of paper at a time. It works just as the same as the rear paper tray, though.
