The Brother MFC-J870DW sells for a price which makes it one of the many affordable all-in-one printers, but it stands out with its built-in near-field communication (NFC), which is arguably the most convenient option for printing wirelessly.
The NFC doesn’t even require you to touch your NFC-capable mobile device to the color inkjet printer’s body. And it has a fairly stylish touchscreen, along with every single thing a consumer printer should have, plus a disc tray for direct printing on an optical disc.
Features and Highlights
The Brother MFC-J870DW produces better output quality at faster speed than the previous model, and it supports NFC to boot. Although the eye-catching feature isn’t as important as the touch screen or paper trays, it’s a handy one, offering the ability to print with minimal effort as long as you have already installed the mobile print app on your device.
Even if the NFC fails to impress you, the Brother MFC-J870DW still has many other features. Aside from printing, it scans, copies, and faxes. And if you need to copy some papers quickly, you can use the machine as a standalone copier.
Moreover, its 68-mm brightly lit touchscreen and a number pad, which make up the hinged front panel that can be tilted, provides a convenient access to perform a number of tasks such as scanning pages to email or a cloud storage, fax documents, and view photos stored in a memory card connected to the printer.
The way it handles two-sided documents is a bit lacking, though. While you can use the printer for automatic duplex printing, you’ll have to do it the manual way if you’re going to scan or copy a double-sided document. This could be a deal breaker for some people. The NFC is certainly an attractive feature, but it may not suffice to compensate for the duplex limitation. As for the ability to print on optical discs, it is less important than NFC, let alone the duplexing.
The 150-sheet paper capacity would also probably affect everyday use in an office more than the NFC and optical disc direct printing, especially if the printer is going to be shared on a network. There is another 20-sheet paper tray, but it is only for 4×6 photo paper.
On the plus side, the Brother MFC-J870DW has a 20-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), so users do not have to scan or copy multipage documents one by one on the letter-size flatbed.

All things considered, although the Brother MFC-J870DW is slow to copy, has a low paper input capacity, less than satisfactory photo print quality on plain paper, and lacks of automatic duplex copying and scanning, it is still a multifunction printer worthy of consideration
The NFC, for example, reduces the hassle of printing. It also has a user-friendly control panel with a large touchscreen. And its high-yield cartridges lets you print more than one thousand pages between refills. You can click the link below to download Brother MFC-J870DW Driver for Windows:
