Even though the Brother MFC-7460DN is devoid of any wireless option, it includes a time-saving duplexer among its features, so it may be a good fit for small offices that do not need more than a mono laser MFP with a wired connection.

While it weighs about 11.6 kg and its design won’t win any award, it is small enough to sit on a desk. Also, the versatile machine offers a reliable performance and a set of features to tackle small office tasks efficiently.

Features and Highlights

Although there is no support for wireless connection, the Brother MFC-7460DN can still be shared over a network using its Ethernet port which can be found in the back. Its duplexer is certainly a huge plus too for those who need it.

It prints a little faster than its sibling, the MFC-7360N, at 26 pages per minute for one-sided documents and 10 sides per minute for two-sided documents. It also supports locking in a print job until you enter the correct PIN code, which is useful if you occasionally need to send particular print jobs containing sensitive information.

The front panel is where you can enter the PIN code, switch between modes, start or cancel a print job, perform a test print, adjust the contrast level of the display, and more. The front panel includes a backlit 2-line LCD and numerous buttons which are neatly arranged based on their functions. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a USB port for direct printing.

The Brother MFC-7460DN provides multiple levels of security which include TX Lock and Setting Lock. The former is to block unauthorized access to the machine, and the latter is to prevent other users from intentionally or unintentionally change the machine settings.

Dialling can also be restricted to prevent users from entering a wrong number. Among the available restriction methods, there is one that allows you to force users to enter the number twice. If a user re-enters a wrong number, there will be an error message appear on the LCD screen.

Some cost-saving features are provided in the Brother MFC-7460DN. There is the Toner Save that reduces the amount of toner used for printing and copying which makes the output appears lighter. There are also the Sleep Mode and Deep Sleep Mode to reduce the power consumption. The former kicks in after a certain period of idle, and the latter is automatically activated after the Sleep Mode runs for a period of time. When the printer enters the Deep Sleep Mode, it consumes much less power than the Sleep Mode.

A 35-sheet ADF is a welcome addition to the flatbed. Better yet, the Brother MFC-7460DN has a 250-sheet tray, a single one-sheet manual feed, and an output tray to collect up to 100 prints.
