A multifunction printer is designed to accomplish more tasks than a single function does, but while some come with an automatic document feeder (ADF), the rest are not. The HP LaserJet Pro M1136 MFP belongs to the latter group.

It is also not a multifunction printer equipped with a fax functionality, so it cannot send or receive anything by fax. It can copy and scan but certainly not an ideal choice for tasks that involve multipage documents because the only method available to accomplish them is a flatbed scanner.

If you print about twenty pages a day, you may need to refill the paper tray once every seven days. That’s because the HP LaserJet Pro M1136 MFP’s paper capacity is approximately 150 sheets. For consumers who print occasionally, the capacity should be more than enough.

But for those who print very frequently that they have to refill the tray at least once a day, perhaps buying another printer with larger paper capacity would be a better idea than sticking to this multifunction printer.

Every printer typically has an output tray with a lower capacity than that of its own input tray and so does the HP LaserJet Pro M1136 MFP, which provides room only for approximately one hundred sheets.

The machine’s performance in printing pages is rated at nineteen monochrome pages per minute, which is a speed good enough for a personal printer but less desirable for printing in offices, not to mention that it doesn’t have support for any network connectivity. The only connectivity option it provides is a USB port to establish a local connection to a single computer.

As mentioned in the very first paragraph above, the HP LaserJet Pro M1136 MFP can scan to create digital duplicates and copy to create identical copies of printed materials, but you won’t see any automatic document feeder on the machine because it doesn’t have one. This means you can only use the flatbed to do the tasks, and therefore scanning or copying multipage documents can easily become a chore.

Duplexing documents isn’t a critical functionality for a printer, but it is still a welcome addition because it can reduce the amount of paper you use for printing. Instead of printing on one side only, this functionality lets you print on all sides of a paper. Print documents in the lowest quality possible and you’d be able to save more on paper and ink.

Nearly everything that the printer offers scream about how it is a reasonably good choice for personal use but leaves much to be desired for office use. Print speed cannot go faster than 19 ppm unless you print documents that contain less text and graphics than the ones used by HP when running the speed test.
