The Epson B310N is a business printer with an unconventional look. Its design is quite unusual that those who see it for the first time might wonder what the machine is all about even after they notice the Epson logo on the front.

The single function printer is equipped with networking functionality. However, it can only connect to a network via Ethernet, which is a shame since it is a printer designed for business use. Wireless connection should have been provided so that everyone in the office can use the printer with ease.

Features and Highlights

 Epson B310N

The Epson B310N has two paper sources. The one on the front is designed to hold the largest amount of sheets, which is up to 500 sheets of paper. The other one provides more room for up to 150 sheets. So, the printer has the capacity to hold 650 sheets of paper in total. On the other hand, the paper output capacity is 170 sheets.

What makes its design looks a bit odd, aside from the front paper tray, is the bulge on the top left, which is the compartment for the ink cartridges. There are four ink cartridges in it, each has a size that is larger than the one typically found in a consumer inkjet.

Despite its unusual look, replacing the ink cartridges is as easy as usual. The standard ink cartridges provides enough ink for the Epson B310N to print 3000 to 3500 pages, and the ones with the highest capacity offers a lot more ink to print up to 8000 pages. However, even if you use the highest capacity ink cartridges, you will still need to replace them to be able to meet the maximum monthly duty cycle, which is up to 10,000 pages.

The Epson B310N’s rated print speed for mono and color pages is up to 37 pages per minute in draft mode and up to 32 pages per minute in normal mode. It’s not just the speed that makes the inkjet printer a worthy competitor to laser printers. Its print quality is also as excellent as a laser printer’s. Best of all, the ink cost is relatively low for a printer that uses ink cartridges instead of an ink tank system. The cost drops even further if you use the highest yield ink cartridges.

Epson prefers a simple control panel for the B310N. There is a screen on the top right side, which displays two lines of 16 characters. Every time you need to check the ink level, you can do so via the screen. It doesn’t have a backlight though, so you may have to struggle a bit sometimes to read the screen.

Another downside is that the Epson B310N doesn’t include an auto duplex mode, which makes printing two-sided documents a hassle. Fortunately, the print speed is remarkably fast for an inkjet printer, so you won’t have to wait long to flip the sheets so that the printer can continue printing on the other sides.
