HP Deskjet GT 5810 is for anyone who cannot live without an all-in-one printer but never need to fax anything. The machine looks good in black, though the design of the ink tank unit on its right side may look weird to some users.

The printer weighs 9.9 pounds when the ink tank unit is empty and 10.75 pounds when it is filled, with a height of 6.2 inches when the input tray is raised and 10 inches when it is not raised, a depth of 22.8 inches when the input tray and the tray extender are raised, and a width of 21 inches.

The ink tank unit of HP Deskjet GT 5810 has a hinged cover which reveals four ink tanks when it is lifted. The tank containing black ink has a capacity of 80 ml, and each of the rest contains 70 ml of color ink.

Each tank has a transparent window, letting users see how much ink left in each tank without having to open the tank unit. The transparent window, however, faces the side rather than the front, which some users may not like.

When the tank unit needs a refill, there are two compatible ink bottles for the printer. They are HP GT52 for color printing and HP GT51 for black and white printing. The former is worth around 8000 pages, and the latter is worth around 6000 pages.

HP Deskjet GT 5810 has a control panel displaying a few buttons to perform some actions like canceling current operation, resuming a job, and turning off the printer. To start printing documents, users need to raise the input tray, insert the papers into the input tray, adjust the paper guide to fit the papers, and pull out the front tray to receive the printed documents. The number of papers inserted into the tray should not exceed 60 sheets of plain paper.

When the machine is in the middle of printing, users may need to stand by to make sure that none of the prints falling to the ground, especially when printing more than 25 sheets of plain paper since the number is the maximum capacity of the output tray. The more documents that need to be printed, the more frequently users have to empty the output tray.
