The Epson PM245 is the type of printer that does only one thing, and that is to print photos as fast as it can without compromising print quality. It is designed to be a portable device so it’s easy to bring it with you somewhere as long as you don’t plan to hike the Everest.

Features and Highlights

Dominantly white in color, the Epson PM245 is boxy but looks adorable. It is small in size, with a width of 231 mm, a height of 156 mm, and a depth of 172 mm. It weighs only about 2.3 kg. It has a handle for easy transport. There is a flip-up LCD screen on top where you can access nicely structured menus to perform various tasks without turning on your PC. In front of the display is a row of buttons (On, Menu, Display, OK, left and right navigation buttons, Stop/Clear, and Print).

Unlike the Epson PM310 where users have to use a remote control to navigate through the LCD screen, the Epson PM245 provides physical buttons which makes it much easier to operate the portable photo printer in a standalone mode. Unfortunately, the screen size is quite small, so some users may find it a bit difficult to use the screen.

Behind the 2.5-inch LCD screen, which has a resolution of 480 pixels by 240 pixels, is the paper input source with a capacity of no more than 20 sheets of photo paper. For a portable photo printer aimed at consumer market, the low paper capacity is reasonable.

The paper input source is hidden beneath the top cover. If you open the cover, aside from the paper input source, you will also see the LCD screen and the buttons. As with most printers of all types, the Epson PM245 also has a paper output tray, which is located on the front. It is closed by default, so you need to slightly push its top right corner to open it.

If you are going to take the portable photo printer somewhere else, you can close the paper input and output trays, flip down the LCD screen, and use the handle to carry it. Due to how it looks, some people who see you carrying it might think that you’re going for a picnic.
