The Epson L395 is a combination of a printer and scanner that uses inks to produce quality prints and copies. This type of printer is widely known as a multifunction inkjet unit.
At 17.5 inches wide and 12 inches deep, the Ecotank printer fits into tight spaces. This point alone is attractive enough to draw attention from potential buyers who have limited space.
Features and Highlights
A Refillable Printer
At quick glance the Epson L395 might look like a cartridge printer, but it actually uses ink tanks to hold the ink that the printer needs to produce printed pages.
The container in which the ink tanks reside is accessible from the right side of the printer’s body. The ink status of ink tank can be easily monitored without an LCD screen and a computer, thanks to the transparent window of each tank.
The cover lift ups to reveal a row of separate ink tanks, each of which has a cap that can be easily removed for a refill. The color label above each tank helps prevent users from refilling a tank with a wrong color of ink.
Sufficient Paper Handling
When the Epson L395 is closed for storage, it looks compact from every angle. Unfortunately, instead of using a closed input tray, it uses a vertical tray that folds up against the unit in the back. The tray can feed up to 100 sheets of paper for printing and adds 5.2 inches to the height when it is fully raised.
The flat surface on the top of the printer lifts up to reveal the glass. The flatbed scanner supports a maximum resolution of 2400 dpi. There is no automatic sheet feeder for scanning, so users would have to place originals on the glass manually, one at a time.
Like many other models, the L395 uses a front tray to collect printed pages. Its maximum capacity only allows up to thirty sheets of plain paper, so babysitting a print job might be inevitable sometimes.
Control Panel
The refillable inkjet printer comes with a control panel without a preview screen. There is only a row of six physical buttons and three light indicators.
The light indicator on the most left side of the panel shows the WiFi status. It comprises of two small lights. The green light flashes when the connection is up and running, and the orange light flashes if the printer fails to connect to the wireless network.
Most of the buttons have one function only, but the mono copy and color copy buttons can be pressed together to access an additional function.
