The Canon MP140 prints and scans pages at an acceptable speed. Another reason why it is best suited for light-duty use only is that it uses ink cartridges instead of ink tanks. The former is too much pricey for heavy-duty use.
With a width of approximately 17.5 inches, the MFP unit is not the most compact one and hence users who don’t have a lot of desk space may need to place it on a separate table. As for its weight, even with all the cartridges installed, the printer is still fairly lightweight.
Features and Highlights
Four FINE Cartridges
The Canon MP140 features the use of FINE cartridges. These cartridges have a built-in print head. Hence, every time you replace a FINE cartridge, it means you also renew the print head.
The printer uses a mix of four colors to produce printed pages, with each color is housed in a separate cartridge, which is a preferable choice than a tri-color cartridge.
Although using individual cartridges is less costly than the tri-color ones in the long run, nothing can beat the cost saving of a tank-based printer in terms of ink cost.
Flatbed Scanner
The Canon MP140 can scan pages but lack an automatic document feeder. This means users have to lift the scanner lid and place the pages on the glass platen one at a time to scan them.
The limitation makes the scanner an unwise choice for consumers who regularly scan a lot of pages but a reasonable one for those who rarely scan more than three or five pages. On a side note, the scanner supports a maximum interpolated resolution of 19200 dpi x 19200 dpi.
Print Speed
The Canon MP140 is an old model whose speed is lacking compared to that of today’s printers. Twenty monochrome pages per minute is the maximum speed it can achieve under the best conditions. This means the printer needs approximately three seconds to produce one printed page.
As for color printing, the best record it has is fifteen pages per minute. A 4×6 photo takes approximately sixty seconds to come out from the printer.
The printer uses 320 nozzles to eject black ink and 382 nozzles for each of the color inks. This means there are more than one thousand nozzles used by the machine to produce printed pages.
Why You Need Canon MP140 Resetter
Despite having no role at all in printing pages, ink pads are considered too important by Epson to let the Canon MP140 keeps printing when they are already at their full capacity.
Anyone whose printer stops working because of the ink pad issue must replace or clean the components and then reset the counter with Canon MP140 Resetter.

Being small in size means that the reset utility is quick to download. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a user guide, it is not a user-friendly solution for first-time users.
