The Canon IP1880 is a bubble jet printer that uses heat to deliver droplets of ink onto paper. It is a discontinued product powered by FINE cartridges capable of delivering high quality borderless photos that last up to one hundred years in storage.
The old model also comes with a software bundle that includes Easy-PhotoPrint and Easy-LayoutPrint to help you create photo albums, photo calendars, and photo stickers. It lets you choose and adjust photo layouts with ease.
Features and Highlights
High Quality Prints
The Canon IP1880 relies on the dye-based FINE ink cartridges to produce lab quality photos and pigment-based black ink cartridge to print sharper and darker text.
The unit uses either the low-capacity (PG-830 and CL-831) or standard-capacity ink cartridges (PG-40 and CL-41). The latter is recommended even if you just print a couple of pages each month because the printer also consumes ink for maintenance. Not only will it save you more money but also save your time in the long run.
Tri-Color Cartridge
The Canon IP1880 is designed to run on two ink cartridges. Unlike the black ink cartridge, the color one is a tri-color cartridge that houses three colors of ink. This type of cartridge is cheaper than individual cartridge, but it comes with a risk of inflated printing costs, which you may have to bear if you use any of the colors more frequently than the rest.
If that color runs out first, you have to buy a new cartridge to be able to print again. As for the existing tri-color cartridge, there is nothing else you can do but throwing it away. This disadvantage is the reason there are consumers who avoid tri-color cartridges at all costs.
Fair Print Speed
Modern entry-level printer nowadays can create printed documents at a speed of thirty pages per minute. The Canon IP1880, on the other hand, powered by more than one thousand nozzles, is rated at twenty monochrome pages per minute and sixteen color pages per minute. When it comes to printing photos, it can create a 4×6 borderless print in about seventy seconds.
Why You Need Canon IP1880 Resetter
Even if you don’t print often, the printer still needs ink to run its cleaning routines, and this task results in excess ink which is no longer usable for printing. To prevent this ink from causing any damage to the printer, Canon adds some pads in the IP1880. The pads absorb the excess ink.
When the printer notifies you that the ink absorber is full, this means the time has come to replace the pads. After that, you need to reset the ink absorber counter with this Canon IP1880 Resetter so that the printer can be used again.
