The Canon E400 is a printer, but it can also save the day when you need to copy a few pages as quickly as possible. It can scan too. It is what people refer to as an all-in-one printer. More specifically, a 3-in-1 printer because it cannot fax.

It is thanks to the lack of the function that the Canon E400 has a lower price tag than those who have one. It also makes the printer simpler to use since no unnecessary function gets in the way, which allows users to accomplish their tasks more quickly.

Features and Highlights

Canon E400

One of the disadvantages of the Canon E400 that makes it less desirable is the amount of sheets it can load for printing and copying. According to Canon, the printer’s paper input tray is only enough for a maximum of sixty sheets of plain paper, which include Letter, A4, A5, and B5. It is pretty low by current standards which range between 100 to 150 sheets for multifunction printers. It can also hold legal-size paper but only up to ten sheets at a time.

Its paper tray folds out to the back and its output tray slides out from the front. Whether you print or copy pages, the output is delivered to that front tray. There is no other output tray available. It can hold paper but it has lower capacity than that of the input tray, so users may have to empty it quite often when printing a large job.

Due to how it is designed, the paper input tray needs to be opened first to be able to use the flatbed scanner. The Canon E400 doesn’t have an automatic document feeder, so every scan job has to rely on the flatbed. If you scan, say five originals, you may need to open and close the flatbed cover five times to scan every single of them. That’s just how inefficient it is in handling a scan job that consists of multiple originals.

On the upside, the flatbed scanner is ideal for irregular originals or originals that are highly prone to damage if not handled properly. However, users need to make sure that the size of the originals do not exceed the maximum size the flatbed can handle, which is 8.5 x 11.57 inches.

One disadvantage of the Canon E400 that may have driven away potential buyers is the tri-color cartridge. This type of cartridge has been famously known for its higher running cost especially for large print jobs. The main concern with it is that the whole cartridge becomes useless as soon as one color runs out, which forces the printer’s owners to buy a brand new cartridge to continue printing.

It is also worth mentioning that even if users print monochrome pages, the color ink may still be consumed depending on the print settings or paper. This disadvantage, coupled with the highly expensive price of the original ink, cause some users to opt for knockoff brands. You can click the link below to download Canon E400 Driver for Windows:
