The HP LaserJet P1008 is an entry-level monochrome laser printer designed for anyone who doesn’t need the bells and whistles of a multifunction printer. Yes, it’s a print-only unit. No copying. No scanning. No faxing. Just printing, and it does what it is made for well.

More Paper Trays

The HP LaserJet P1008’s paper handling mechanism is a bit different from that of most printers. It has two paper input trays and one paper output bin. 

One of the input trays is the main tray that can hold up to 150 sheets of paper. It is located at the bottom front of the printer. When the printing process is running, each sheet is pulled into the machine and comes out from the top of the printer where the 100-sheet output bin is waiting.

The other input tray is a single-sheet priority feed slot. It’s called priority because it overrides the main tray. When you insert a sheet into the slot, the printer will use that sheet instead of pulling paper from the main tray. Great for printing on envelopes, labels, cardstock, or letterhead without changing the paper in the main tray.

Economical Printing

The HP LaserJet P1008 provides multiple ways to reduce print cost per page. The first one is duplex printing that allows you to print on both sides of paper. This option helps you save paper, but you have to run the paper through the device twice since it doesn’t have an automatic duplexer.

On the other hand, N-up printing lets you print multiple pages on a single sheet of paper, allowing you to save more paper and toner. 

EconoMode is a print mode that uses less toner per page. It’s an option that can extend the life of the print cartridge at the expense of print quality. It’s a good mode to use when printing anything that doesn’t need high-quality output.

Simple Connectivity

The HP LaserJet P1008 doesn’t support wireless or Ethernet connection. It can only connect to a computer via a USB cable. Consequently, mobile devices cannot connect to the printer, and files that are on the device need to be transferred to the computer if you want to print them out.
