  • Need Updated version!

The Epson L4160 is an upgraded version of the L4150. It has an identical form factor, but it is slightly heavier since it has more built-in components, like a memory card slot, duplexer, and control panel that includes a 1.4-inch color LCD display.

The printer closely resembles the slimmed-down model. It’s mostly black, compact, eye-catching, with rounded edges. The top is flat, clearly showing the absence of an automatic document feeder (ADF). The paper handling is the same as the L4150’s, with no option for upgrade.

Features and Highlights

Epson L4160

An EcoTank Printer

The main selling point of the Epson L4160 is its ink tank system. It’s way more generous than a cartridge-based ink system. A set of ink bottles offers a page yield of thousands of pages. That’s something not even a set of XL cartridges can ever compete with.

In terms of ink volume, the bottled inks are superior. The only drawback is you’ll have to refill the tanks manually, and it takes more time than swapping empty cartridges with new ones. Fortunately, refilling the tanks is easy. Each bottle has a unique nozzle that fits only into its respective tank.

Save Paper with Duplexing

Unlike the sibling L4150, the Epson L4160 has an integrated duplexer. All A4 printers can print on both sides of paper, but most of them can only do it with user intervention. With the duplexer, that intervention is no longer necessary.

After the printing process is started, the printer prints on one side, and then prints again on the other side. No more manual sheet flipping. The duplexer handles the heavy lifting all the way through. It saves your time, paper, and money.

Scan Paper with a Flatbed Scanner

As an MFP, the Epson L4160 can scan various types of paper, thanks to its flatbed scanner. Lacking an ADF means the printer is not an ideal choice to handle high-volume scanning, but for people who have so limited a budget that they can spare more money to buy a printer with an ADF and do not mind having to scan every sheet of paper manually, the flatbed scanner will just do fine.

More Ink to Print Black Pages

The Epson L4160’s ink setup is identical to the Epson L4150’s. There are four ink tanks. Three of them have the exact same size, while the one closest to the output tray, the one that holds black ink, is bigger. It’s a relatively smart design because most people print pages in black.

With the black ink tank being twice as large as the cyan, magenta, or yellow ink tank, you’ll probably refill it a lot less than a regular black ink tank. With the automatic duplexer, you’ll use much less paper, which brings extra benefits like easier paper management and paper savings.

To start using the printer, you’ll need its software driver. It will enable your Windows PC to send instructions to the printer whether it is to print single-sided documents, double-sided pages, photos, or anything else. You can click the link below to download Epson L4160 Driver for Windows:
