The HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 is an AIO printer offering a range of competitive features at an enticing price for those who are on a budget. By subscribing to the HP’s Instant Ink, HP claims that its running cost would be more manageable, but no one should ever take a company’s claim at face value.

While many AIO printers are equipped with automatic duplexer, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a comparable model whose duplexer supports copying and scanning too in the printer’s price range. It is also a solid performer with enough paper capacity for low-volume printing needs.

Features and Highlights

The HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 measures 18.26 inches wide, 15.35 inches deep, and 9.0 inchess tall, with a weight of 17.9 pounds. It can scan and copy two-sided pages without user intervention by using a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF). A flatbed scanner is also available should you need to scan a media that doesn’t fit in the feeder.

The AIO printer can scan pages at a resolution of up to 1200 dpi if you want the best quality. As for copying, it supports resolution up to 600 dpi for both black and color pages.

The top front of the AIO printer is occupied by a control panel, which features a 6.75-cm color touchscreen. Below it is the output tray where up to sixty printed pages can be kept temporarily. And at the bottom front of the printer is the input tray which slides out to reveal a paper drawer whose capacity is 225 sheets of plain papers. Flipping up the lid of the output tray can make it easier to load paper into the input tray.

There is also a USB port at the front of the chassis. By using that port, you can scan documents to a USB drive, or print out the files that are stored on a USB drive, without having to use the computer that is connected to the printer.

Another USB port can be found at the back of the chassis. It is exclusively used to establish a wired connection between the printer and a computer. An Ethernet port is also available to set up the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 on a network.

The connection can be established wirelessly too, which is less of a hassle option since there is no cable involved. This method allows the printer to connect to more devices with ease. And since Wi-Fi Direct is also a part of the connectivity options, other devices can be directly connected to printer without using an existing network.
