Nik Collection by DxO is a highly popular plugin pack among photographers and creative professionals for more than a decade. It supports Adobe Photoshop, DxO PhotoLab, Affinity Photo, Capture One, Lightroom Classic, and more.

The suite contains eight photo editing plugins, each serving a specific purpose. They include Nik 7 Analog Efex, Nik 7 Dfine, Nik 7 Color Efex, Nik 7 HDR Efek, Nik 7 Presharpener, Nik 7 Sharpener Output, Nik 7 Silver Efex, and Nik 7 Viveza. As for the Perspective plugin, it is no longer available in version 7.

Features and Highlights

Nik 7 Analog Efex

This plugin is the tool to use when you want to make your digital photos look like they were taken long in the past on an analog camera. It provides you with various presets to apply certain effects in a single click. The adjustments you make to any of the presets can be saved as a new preset and included in an existing or a new category for easier access.

Nik 7 Color Efex

This plugin has been a favorite to many landscape photographers for years simply because it is an outstanding one. It offers a full slate of filters to enhance photos in no time. And just like Analog Efex, there are presets that can be customized to your liking.

Nik 7 Dfine

Digital noise can degrade the quality of an image. While most photo editing programs can remove the noise, Nik 7 Dfine is arguably better at it. This plugin is designed solely to handle the problem. Its user interface is free from clutter and it provides two noise removal options: manual or automatic. The latter can save time, but it doesn’t always produce excellent result.

Nik 7 Presharpener and Sharpener Output

There are two separate image sharpening tools in Nik 7: Nik Presharpener and Nik Sharpener Output. The former is intended for preliminary sharpening and the latter is designed for output sharpening. The output can be compared with the original in three ways: Quick, Split, and Side. Both modules also have two sharpening visualization modes: Effect Overlay and Effect Mask.

Quick Export

To some users, this may be one of the best improvements to Nik Collection by DxO. It allows you to quickly save changes as different copies in case you cannot make up your mind about which one that looks best. When you click the button, it will export your current edit according to the specified parameters. By default, the output is in lossless TIFF format.

The other plugins are as great as the ones mentioned above. You can create a stunning HDR image with Nik 7 HDR Efek, adjusting color and tone with Nik Viveza, and converting photos into monochrome artworks with Nik Silver Efex.
