The Epson XP-255 is an entry-level MFP device. It lacks features that are commonly found in pricier models. It cannot feed paper automatically except for printing. It cannot print on both sides of a paper without user intervention. And its paper capacity is so low that it should never be used as a shared printer in an office.

On the upside, it is powered by individual ink cartridges, and its compact size allows users to have more free space to put papers, mobile devices, and other kinds of stuff many people usually leave scattered on their desk.

Wireless Printing

Its paper tray does have a low capacity, but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for consumers who just need to print, copy, and scan occasionally, not to mention it is capable of simplifying printing from mobile devices, thanks to its Wi-Fi Direct functionality. With the Epson XP-255, wireless printing doesn’t have to rely on a network.

The cartridge-based printer has a control panel on its front side. The panel features a row of buttons and indicator lights, but there is no LCD screen, and it cannot be tilted upward. Users can copy documents from the panel, but the lack of a screen makes it inconvenient to use.

Borderless Printing

Its capability to produce borderless prints is another reason to bring it home. However, there are some users who refrain from printing borderless photos due to some reasons. Overspray is often cited as the reason. They are worried that overspray can damage printer, so they prefer printing photos with borders and then manually cut the borders off the photos with scissors.

About Epson XP-255 Resetter

Epson XP-255 Resetter

The warning message the printer shows on your computer screen or its LCD screen doesn’t mean that the printer cannot be used again. It just enters a mode where it locks itself. Epson claims that the automatic locking is to protect both the printer and users, which would believable otherwise if not for the lack of any option to unlock the printer.

Locking a printer and then recommending users to contact Epson support or Epson authorized service center where you would spend a sum of money to get it repaired seems somewhat like a poorly disguised attempt to seek more profit.

Epson also claims in the printer’s manual that the ink pads are user-serviceable parts, but a quick search reveals that it is actually possible to replace or clean them without too much difficulty in the process. As for resetting the counter of the ink pads, anyone interested can use Epson XP-255 Resetter.
