Unlike most EcoTank printers, the Epson ET-8700 uses ink pouches to fill up the ink supply. No more bottles. But it’s still supposedly superior than cartridge printers in terms of ink capacity and print cost per page.
The WorkForce Pro printer features an automatic document feeder (ADF) that supports duplex scanning and copying, making it easy to get through double-sided documents.
Also, its paper capacity can be upgraded, allowing users to increase the amount of paper it can hold, reducing the need for frequent refills and handling different printing needs.
Features and Highlights
Ink Pouches
The Epson ET-8700 comes with a set of DURABrite Ultra pigment ink packs. Two of which are R02X black ink packs and the other three are R02L ink packs. When installed, the ink packs rest flat inside their designated trays. They are relatively easier to install than conventional tank printers that require you pouring ink from a bottle. Plus, Epson says these can last up to 2 years, based on printing around 450 pages a month on average.
ADF With More Features
The 4-in-1 device has a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) with an automatic duplexer, so you don’t have to flip the pages yourself. But keep in mind that the duplexer isn’t single-pass, which means it scans one side at a time instead of both sides together. This might make scanning a little slower than some other models. Still, it works well for most everyday jobs.
Expandable Paper Capacity
The Epson ET-8700 has enough paper trays to hold more than 200 sheets, with the front tray alone handle 250 sheets, while the rear lets you stack up to 80 sheets at once. Heavy users who still find themselves refill the trays often have the choice to upgrade the capacity by adding an extra 500-sheet tray. It’s definitely not cheap, but the convenience and time savings can make it worth the investment.
About Epson ET-8700 Resetter
Hidden from plain view is a maintenance box that has no effect whatsoever on print quality or speed, but it plays a vital role for managing waste ink. Inside the small box, a few ink pads absorb and collect waste ink, so it won’t spread everywhere.
One day the maintenance box won’t be able to collect waste ink anymore and the so-called safety measure kicks in, which means it’s time to shell out more cash for Epson. Users who want to save money can remove the box to clean the pads and reset the counter with this reset tool.

Replacing the maintenance box can be expensive, especially once you factor in exchange rates, so it’s easy to see why many users opt for a manual fix. It does take some time, but budget-savvy users would rather put in the effort to save money as much as possible.
This resetter acts as a shortcut to bypass the counters Epson built into the printer, in the name of so-called user protection. It’s a small, free tool that combines ease of use with convenient portability. You can click the link below to download Epson ET-8700 Resetter for Windows:
