While it does have some office-centric features like a scanner unit with an automatic document feeder (ADF) and automatic duplexer, the Epson XP-860 is best suited for photo printing since it runs on one black ink and five color ink cartridges.
Thanks to the extra inks, you get sharper, more vibrant photo prints. Although they do raise the running cost, it might be worth it for anyone printing photos nearly as often as documents. And there is no need to worry about paper swapping since there is a dedicated tray for photo printing.
Features and Highlights
Six Inks for Photo Printing
In addition to the standard CMYK ink colors, the Epson XP-860 also uses two extra inks. They are Light Cyan and Light Magenta, which also come in individual cartridges. The printer is designed to work with Claria Photo HD Inks, which are available in standard and high capacity versions. These are supposed to be better than regular inks.
Print Right From the Printer
The Epson XP-860’s control panel packs a 4.3-inch interactive color touchscreen that gives you quick access to a range of PC-free printing features. You can preview, select, crop, enlarge, rotate, and print photos from it, among many others. It’s responsive, easy to navigate, and designed to make standalone printing feel fast and intuitive.
Duplexer and ADF
If you print or scan often, having a duplexer and an ADF can really make a difference. A duplexer lets you automatically print on both sides of the paper, which saves time and cuts down on paper use. The XP-860’s duplexer print double-sided pages at a rated speed of 4.7 ISO ppm for monochrome and 4.5 ISO ppm for color.
Meanwhile, an ADF, or automatic document feeder, allows you to scan, copy, or fax multi-page documents without feeding each page manually. Together, ADF and duplexer make everyday printing tasks faster, easier, and a lot more efficient. The XP-860’s ADF lets you stack 30 sheets for uninterrupted scanning.
About Epson XP-860 Resetter
When your Epson XP-860 printer displays an error related to ink pads, it usually means the internal counter has flagged them as full, halting service to prevent leaks or damage. The official solution is to bring it in for service, where the printer’s internal counter will be reset and the ink pads will be replaced.
If you prefer a DIY option, this tool could be just what you need. Its small size makes it quick to launch, its portability makes it easier to access, and the entire process to reset the counter takes no more than a few steps.

Sending a printer out for repairs often isn’t worth the time, cost, or hassle, especially if the problem is just some sponges that can no longer absorb waste ink. They can be replaced manually, or cleaned if you aren’t willing to spend even a cent.
As for the ink pad counter, this free tool can reset it quickly, letting you get back to printing in minutes. It might take some guessing for beginners since there’s no user manual, but it’s really not complicated. You can click the link below to download Epson XP-860 Resetter for Windows:
