As an inkjet printer, the Epson ME30 has a very limited paper capacity, which limits its potential use. Additionally, the machine is designed to perform one core task only. As you can see, it has no scanner, so it can neither copy nor scan pages.

The print-only unit has a design that leaves much to be desired, but keep in mind that the printer is an old model.

Features and Highlights

Epson ME30

Ink Capacity

The Epson ME30 uses four cartridges that consists of one black and three color cartridges. The former’s ink capacity can be used to print more than 200 pages, while each of the latter is sufficient to produce approximately 565 pages.

Although ink cartridges are pricier than ink bottles, which are used on tank-based printers, they are more suitable for light use in terms of ink cost.

A Light-Duty Printer

The maximum number of pages the printer can produce from its ink cartridges is not the only good indicator that it is a light-duty printer.

The other indicator is its rear paper tray that can only handle up to 80 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of 4×6 glossy photo paper. The product specifications, unfortunately, doesn’t inform about its suggested monthly volume.

However, the paper tray, ink capacity, and print speed already provide sufficient clues that the Epson ME30 is not for large volume of printing.

A Single-Function Printer

The Epson ME30 is an old model which was worthy of consideration if all you needed was a printer capable of printing at a reasonable speed. While a printer that can copy, scan, and fax is an attractive choice, not everyone needs a printer that can do everything.

At its maximum speed, the ME30 can produce up to 26 pages per minute, but only if you set the machine to print monochrome pages in Economy Mode. If it is used to print color pages in the same mode, the speed is down to approximately 14 pages per minute.

On the other hand, printing a 4×6 photo can take between 59 seconds to 157 seconds, which depends on whether you print a photo with or without borders.

Why You Need Epson ME30 Resetter

Epson ME30 Resetter

Each cleaning cycle of the Epson ME30 produces excess ink that could bring harm to the printer itself as well as your desk if left alone. To prevent this from ever happening, the printer utilizes some absorbent ink pads.

However, the pads would turn the printer into a useless machine once they are no longer usable after a certain amount of use. Many users are convinced that this is a planned obsolescence. The good news is the Epson ME30 Resetter can be used to deal with the ink pad issue.
