Neural Filters

One of the most impressive additions to Adobe Photoshop 2021 is a library of AI-driven filters that allow you to transfer a style from a painting to your image, apply age progression to make a person older or younger, change your subject’s facial expression, smooth out skin wrinkles and blemishes, and do more.

These filters, which are called Neural Filters, are powered by the machine learning tool that Adobe had introduced back in 2016 and has developed ever since. The results of applying these filters are often surprising.

Sky Replacement

Replacing the sky is now much easier with the introduction of this cool feature. Select a sky style from the Sky Library, apply it to your image, and you will be able to see the result immediately.

If the result hasn’t met your expectation yet, you can tweak it by using the Foreground Adjustment, Color Adjustment, Fade Edge, and Shift Edge sliders. You can use custom sky as well if none of the sky styles is good enough for your project.

It’s also worth mentioning that the settings you make to replace the sky can be edited as layers, making it possible for you to work on each separately and nondestructively.

Colorize Filter

If you have a black & white photo that you want to colorize, you should give this feature a try. The result might surprise you. Turn on the filter and see the magic happens right in front of your eyes, but before that you must ensure that you’re working on RGB Mode.

Color Box is another option to colorize your vintage photo, but this one is intended to apply color to specific area only. First, you select a color, then you use it to colorize any part of the image.

Reset Transform

If you experiment a lot with the Warp Filter, this could be your lifesaver as it allows you to quickly reset a layer, including a Smart Object. Right-click on a layer, select Reset Transform, and all the changes you’ve made to it will be undone at once.
