Collect Analyze Alerts Reports Troubleshoot

The Anturis monitoring process begins with a comprehensive approach to data collection:
Anturis draws on data from all available sources and drills down through every layer of your infrastructure.

External website monitoring - Anturis

"External" website monitoring

Anturis conducts periodic tests on overall responsiveness and response time from several geo-dispersed locations on the Internet. These locations are external to your infrastructure, maintained by Anturis and mirror the location of your actual users. When you set up Anturis, you choose the locations and protocols to be used for tests, including ICMP ping, HTTP, email protocols and others.

Multi-step synthetic web transactions - Anturis

Multi-step synthetic web transactions

Multi-step check, also known as synthetic user experience monitoring or synthetic transactions monitoring, is a sequence of HTTP requests sent to a web server in a predefined order. After each request is sent, the web server's response is checked to meet certain conditions.

Log monitoring - Anturis

Log Monitoring

The Anturis log monitor tracks abnormal patterns that may arise in logs, such as ERROR messages.

The log monitor can also be used to count the rate at which a specific message appears in a log, for example, the number of customer logins to a website or the number of warning messages issued.

Internal Infrastructure Monitoring - Anturis

Internal Infrastructure Monitoring

Regardless of whether your infrastructure is comprised of physical or virtual servers, housed in one location or around the world, Anturis can be set up to monitor every component of your IT system.

Anturis monitors networks, servers, OS, databases, applications and virtual components via a relay agent installed on one or more local servers. This agent collects necessary data and dispatches it to the Anturis back-end over a secure HTTP-based protocol.

Standard Monitors Library - Anturis

Standard Monitors Library

Anturis offers a growing library of standard monitors available out of the box, including CPU, memory, disk, OS processes, HTTP, SNMP, e-mail, MySQL, and others. We are continually adding to our monitors library to meet all common monitoring needs.

Custom monitor - Anturis

Custom Monitor

Anturis also offers custom monitors that can implement an arbitrary check scenario through periodic execution of a user-supplied shell command. Command output can be either verified to contain/not contain a certain string pattern, or it can be treated as a numeric value that should fall into a predefined interval.

Next, Anturis analyzes the collected data prior
to alerting you to any potential concerns.

Problem cause and effect - Anturis

Problem cause and effect

Using impact dependencies, Anturis is able to track down infrastructure components that cause a problem as well as assess a problem’s impact on other infrastructure components. This provides the best understanding of the problem cause and effect, and allows for more accurate alerting, including correctly gauging the severity of the problem and alerting the appropriate responsible party.

Impact modeling - Anturis

Impact modeling

A vital feature of Anturis data analysis is impact modeling. When collecting data, Anturis does more than preserve details on each single component of your infrastructure. Anturis also maintains a record of relational links between components that show impact dependencies between parts of your IT infrastructure.

For example, if an application is deployed into a virtual machine that is running on some physical server and the latter goes down, then both the virtual machine and the application turn to be down as well - as consequences of the physical server malfunction. Anturis ability to discern such “derived” failures makes it much smarter solution for diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Once data collection and analysis are complete, Anturis generates meaningful and actionable alerts designed to flag potential issues without being intrusive. Best of all, Anturis’ alert system provides maximum control and flexibility to users.

Simple Configuration - Anturis

Simple Configuration, Powerful Flexibility

No need to set up complex rules. Simply point each infrastructure component to the correct responsible party and allow them to choose their preferred method of contact: email, SMS or voice alerts.

The Right Alert for the Right Problem - Anturis

The Right Alert for the Right Problem

No more middle-of-the-night wake-up calls for not-so-serious problems. Conversely, a serious problem triggers a voice alert to notify you fast. Anturis allows you to customize your preferred method of contact based on the severity of the problem, so you can set email or SMS for lower priority concerns.

Less Spam for You - Anturis

Less Spam for You

Often, a single issue can result in malfunction in many other related places within an infrastructure. This can trigger a flood of alerts with traditional monitoring systems. Anturis’ sophisticated system is able to link related problems and suppress redundant alerts, which means less “alert spam” and only the most meaningful information getting to you.

Less Spam for You - Anturis

Maintenance mode

Maintenance mode allows users to perform service actions on their infrastructure without affecting the uptime status. When Anturis monitoring is in Maintenance mode, all problem reporting and notifications are suspended while monitoring data is collected and displayed. Maintenance mode enables you to avoid any alerts or problem reports that might occur when a monitored object, such as a server or website, is taken offline for maintenance.

After you receive an alert, Anturis gives you the option to view more detailed information about the specific problem.

Performance Metrics - Anturis

Performance Metrics

The Anturis dashboard can be used to not just collect, but also visualize any metric, offering graph presentation for both real-time and historical perspectives.

Status/SLA/QoS Graph - Anturis

Status/SLA/QoS Graph

Status graphs show aggregated information about the infrastructure component status over time. For example, it may show that last month a server was up 95% of time, while the month before its uptime was 100%. This graph can be used for Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Quality of Service (QoS) reports.

All-In-One Reporting - Anturis

All-In-One Reporting

Best of all, Anturis allows for “at-a-glance” viewing of your entire infrastructure from the central dashboard.

Mobile Application

With Anturis Mobile you can easily monitor websites, web applications, networks, severs and more, anytime from virtually any location. The app provides an overview of your IT infrastructure status.

Android app is available on Google Play Store.

Finally, Anturis goes the extra step to give you the tools to make solving your IT problem faster and easier.

Incident view - Anturis

Incident view

Thanks to its powerful impact modeling feature, Anturis is able to recognize related problems happening with different infrastructure components, whether they happen all at once or over a period of time. Incident View is a graphic tool that represents the set of related problems across your infrastructure. By reflecting incident development over time and showing a clear correlation of events, Incident View shows you the big picture you need for faster troubleshooting.

Drill down tools - Anturis

Drill down tools

Using impact dependencies, Anturis is able to track down infrastructure components that cause a problem as well as assess a problem’s impact on other infrastructure components. This provides the best understanding of the problem cause and effect, and allows for more accurate alerting, including correctly gauging the severity of the problem and alerting the appropriate responsible party.

Dashboard - Anturis

Useful and expansive view of a system’s operating metrics and a crucial tool for troubleshooting a complex issue. It allows user to:

  • See the graphs of related and critical metrics all at once
  • Zoom and move through and across all measurement graphs
  • Get instant insights into which metric graphs demonstrate abnormal patterns
  • Discern correlations between the metrics at-a-glance
  • Access troubleshooting details right from the dashboard screen
  • Create as many dashboards and variations as needed
