Anturis conducts periodic tests on overall responsiveness and response time from several geo-dispersed locations on the Internet. These locations are external to your infrastructure, maintained by Anturis and mirror the location of your actual users. When you set up Anturis, you choose the locations and protocols to be used for tests, including ICMP ping, HTTP, email protocols and others.

Multi-step check, also known as synthetic user experience monitoring or synthetic transactions monitoring, is a sequence of HTTP requests sent to a web server in a predefined order. After each request is sent, the web server's response is checked to meet certain conditions.

Anturis also maintains a record of relational links between components that show impact dependencies between parts of your IT infrastructure.

For example, if an application is deployed into a virtual machine that is running on some physical server and the latter goes down, then both the virtual machine and the application turn to be down as well - as consequences of the physical server malfunction. Anturis ability to discern such “derived” failures makes it much smarter solution for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
