About Ancient Origins

Ancient Origins was established in 2013 with the goal of investigating, understanding and explaining human origins, and reconstructing the story of our beginnings through an exploration of lost civilizations, sacred writings, ancient places, unexplained artefacts, scientific mysteries and more.

Ancient Origins has experienced rapid growth over a short period, expanding rapidly to become one of the top ‘pop archaeology’ websites in the world, with more than a million views per month. It is also the only website in its category that combines the most up-to-date scientific research with alternative and out-of-the-box perspectives.

Challenges

With such rapid growth, Ancient Origins expressed an urgent need to know precisely what is happening with their server from instant to instant – including if the server is down, the response time from different parts of the world, if the database server is running properly, CPU and memory usage and so on. This was due to several occasions when their articles ‘went viral’, causing the server to overload and crash – the result was a website that was down at the same time as it was experiencing a large influx of new visitors, potentially putting them off returning to the site again.
