In April 2017, Star Wars – Battlefront 2 was announced at an event where the audience could watch its first trailer. A few months after, the game was released. It has more content than the previous entry in the series and a few playable characters.

The loot boxes system in the game, however, received a strong negative response from the community which eventually caused the government to conduct an investigation on the system’s effects on children. The company issued a statement to defend it but the statement gained nothing but more contempt from the community which led to the removal of the microtransactions.

Features and Highlights

Star Wars – Battlefront 2 has a number of game modes which include Campaign, Arcade, Instant Action, and Multiplayer that allows up to 40 players to play the game at the same time.

The Multiplayer game mode consists consists of various online modes such as Heroes Vs Villains, Galactic Assault, Strike, Ewok Hunt, Starfighter Assault, Hero Showdown, Co-Op Mission, Blast, Jetpack Cargo, Supremacy, Extraction, and Hero Starfighter.

The main protagonist in the Campaign mode is Iden Versio, a female warrior who commands an elite military team called Inferno Squad. She is originally a devoted follower of the Empire until one day an event takes place which changes everything. The campaign also contains segments in which the player can take control of Luke Skywalker or the other playable characters.

Arcade is an offline battle mode that lets the player fights against bots. It is split into Custom Arcade, Tutorial, and Battle Scenario. The Custom Arcade consists of Team Battle, Onslaught, and Duel.

In the Team Battle, two teams fight each other. The objective is simple. It is to eliminate the opponent’s reinforcements. The first team that accomplishes the objective is the winner.

The challenge is a bit difficult in the Onslaught mode as there is a certain number of bots that the player has to defeat within the time frame. As for the Duel mode, it allows two players to eliminate each other.

The Battle Scenarios mode consists of a number of scenarios which include Save Our Skins, Let the Wookiee Win, and Attack of the Droids. The first battle scenario takes place in Yavin 4: The Great Temple. The second one takes place in Tatooine: Mos Eisley. And the last one takes place in Kamino: Cloning Facility.

The factions in Star Wars – Battlefront 2 have four soldier classes, three starfighter classes, two vehicle Reinforcements, and three soldier Reinforcements.

All the factions also have additional vehicles like the All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport and Tauntauns. The former is a bipedal walker piloted by one soldier, and the latter is a native species of Hoth, an icy planet.

The main story of Star Wars – Battlefront 2 is divided into ten stories such as Operations in the Anoat sector, Escaping from the Invincible Faith, Tracking a missing general, Encountering the enemy, and Showdown at Jakku.
