Ratchet & Clank follows the adventure of the main protagonist Ratchet and his best friend Clank in saving the fictional universe from the evil forces. He was born in the Polaris Galaxy but grows up in the Solana Galaxy as a mechanic.

Ratchet is a Lombax and Clank is a small robot. Ratchet is an orphan and Clank is an inferior robot born from some machine malfunctions during the production phases. The robot originally doesn’t have a name until Ratchet decides to call him Clank instead of his serial number.

Features and Highlights

Ratchet, who lives in a backwater planet called Veldin, has a wish to explore the galaxy. And his wish comes true when he meets Clank by accident.

The robot escapes the planet he was created, Quartu, with an infobot containing details about Chairman Alonzo Derek who destroyed planets to create a new planet for the blarg. His intention is driven more by personal financial profits rather than patriotism.

Ratchet and Clank decides to work together to put a stop on Derek’s evil plan. They seek help from Captain Qwark, an intergalactic celebrity who has been an idol to Ratchet, only to find out that he is not as heroic as he seems to be.

In their adventure, Rachet and Clank explore many planets. They find weapons that they can use to fight the enemies. Weapons and other kinds of items are also obtainable through purchases with bolts as the primary currency. Bolts are everywhere, but the easiest way to acquire them is by destroying the enemies and breakable objects.

There are types of bolts that are used to upgrade certain weapons instead, such as gold and hero bolts.

The basic moveset that Ratchet can perform include jumping, double jumping, firing weapons, and wielding meele weapons. Clank can be upgraded by adding Thruster-Pack and Heli-Pack, and with him on Ratchet’s back, the protagonist can jump higher than usual.

The character’s health is represented by nanotech whose capacity can be expanded either by defeating enemies or collect certain items. In addition to its function as a health point for the character, it can be used to upgrade weapons too.

The default capacity of nanotech is four units. The character can purchase Premium Nanotech at Orxon, a heavily polluted planet, to upgrade it to five units. Ultra Nanotech, on the other hand, can upgrade the nanotech capacity up to eight units.

Ratchet and Clank travel from one planet to another to fight enemies and complete various objectives. The game has a number of story objectives, as well as optional side objectives. During the progress of completing the side objectives, sometimes the player will find some weapons.

Fifteen weapons are available in the game. The free weapon that the player will receive when starting the game is the Bomb Glove. It allows the player to toss a moderately powerful bomb at a group of enemies. As for the other weapons, they can be purchased or found during the course of the game.
