The first event in Metal Gear Solid 2 – Sons of Liberty takes place two years after the Shadow Moses Incident. The game comes with some improvements, one of which is the AI of the enemy guards that allows them to be smarter, work in groups, call for backup, and perform tactical attacks in their efforts to eliminate the player.

The game begins with Solid Snake boarding the tanker that transports a new type of Metal Gear. In the middle of the mission, things get complicated as Russian mercenaries attack the tanker to get their hands on the new Metal Gear, and this is where the player can finally have some real action.

Two years later, another event takes place. A clean up facility named Big Shell is seized by a terrorist group, Sons of Liberty. Snake’s mission is to disarm the group using whatever means necessary and make sure that the hostages, especially the President, are safe. At the same time, the SEAL team also conducts a rescue operation, but Snake is prohibited from exposing himself to the team.

In his mission, Snake wears a protective suit with built-in sensors. The suit is called the Sneaking Suit. Because of how it looks, the suit also gains another name, Skull Suit. In addition to its protection features, it can also enhance the physical performance of its wearer.
