The story of Jak and Daxter – The Precursor Legacy centers upon Jak, the protagonist, who has a friend named Daxter. That friend of his is a human just like him but turns into a hybrid creature known as ottsel after falling into a dark eco silo.

In his attempt to help his friend restores his original form, he finds out about the lurkers led by the antagonists who want to corrupt the world with the dark eco. The pair must fight them to prevent the world from getting destroyed.

Features and Highlights

Jak can use a power-up item called eco which has varied uses depending on its type. In Jak and Daxter – The Precursor Legacy, four types of eco are available.

In addition to curing dark plants, Green Eco can also be used to restore Jak’s health, but he needs an eco vent to fully regenerate his health. Smaller amount of eco droplets can only restore a few points of his lost health.

Blue Eco is another type of eco commonly found in the game. It allows Jak to move faster, attract precursor orbs and other collectible objects, and activate precursor artifacts.

While the Green Eco gives Jak the energy of life and the Blue Eco increases his movement speed, the Red Eco is the type of eco that contains power. Using the eco will make him temporarily more powerful that some enemies which usually need two hits can be killed in just one hit.

Yellow Eco is the substance that allows Jak to shoot powerful projectiles. One hit is enough to kill lurkers. Its damage level is as powerful as the Red Eco, if not stronger. It can also be used to break open boxes that even the Red Eco cannot.

The most dangerous of all eco types is Dark Eco which has a power to corrupt anything it touches. It can even kill sometimes. It is also the type of eco that changes Daxter to ottsel. A good person can also turn into an evil person. As a matter of fact, Gol Acheron and his sister have been corrupted by the dark eco, turning them into evils.

Light Eco is the opposite of Dark Eco. When all the types of eco, except for the Dark Eco, are combined, the combination will produce a Light Eco. In Jak and Daxter series, the substance appears on three games. Jak and Daxter – The Precursor Legacy is one of them.
