God of War is a game about vengeance. Kratos, a Spartan warrior who is consumed by hatred, desires nothing but to eliminate the god of war for good. He is a broken man who later finds a new power that can make the gods tremble. It is the power that gives him a chance to make his dream comes true.

The action game came to life in 2005 and soon it became one of the most amazing games in the genre ever produced in the history of PlayStation 2.

Features and Highlights

The sole purpose of Katros in God of War is revenge. He will destroy anything that dares to stand on his way. There is no mercy for the enemies. He cares nothing about the consequences of his actions, and he will stop at nothing until he gets what he desires, and that is the death of the god of war, Ares.

Ares is his former master whom he had served loyally until the god of war did something unforgivable. Because of Ares, his family died. When he attacked a village, he accidentally killed his daughter and wife who were secretly transported to the village by Ares. In his own twisted mind, Ares believed that the tragedy would have set Kratos to become a true warrior.

The tragedy sent Kratos to despair and he is thirst for revenge. Ever since that day, he lives in suffer, until one day he learns that there is a magical artifact feared by the gods. With the artifact, a mortal being can kill a god. It is called the Pandora’s Box. Kratos then fights his way to the place where the artifact is hidden and locked, but it is not easy as he has to evade deadly traps and defeat many monsters.

Blades of Chaos is one of the weapons Kratos uses to fight the enemies. Blade of Artemis, bestowed by Artemis the Goddess of the Hunt, is another weapon of his which is heavier, larger, and therefore more cumbersome, but inflicts more damage to enemies and can be upgraded to increase its strength.

The biggest and most powerful weapon in Kratos possession is the Blade of Gods. It is the weapon he used to defeat Ares. Its enormous size makes it only possible to be wielded when Kratos turns into a giant.

Relics are also parts of Kratos’s power. Rage of the Gods, for example, allows him to improve the damage levels of his attacks when using the Blades of Chaos.

In addition to the blades and relics, Kratos can do magic attacks too. One of them is Poseidon’s Rage, a magic bestowed by Poseidon that allows him to summon lightning bolts from the sky. Ares took the magic away from Kratos but he got it back again with Athena’s help.

Kratos also use Medusa’s head to turn his enemies into stones. It has three levels of attacks with Gorgon Rage being the most powerful one as it is capable of freezing all enemies at the same time.
