As a sequel, Capcom vs. SNK 2 – Mark of the Millennium 2001 comes with some new game features. For example, instead of maintaining the same ratio system in which characters have specific ratio, players are given the freedom to distribute the ratio to the chosen characters as they see fit.

The game offers the fun of close quarter combats between characters from SNK and Capcom fighting series. Many of the characters come from Street Fighter series such as Guile, Blanka, Ken Master, Edmond Honda, and Cammy White.

Features and Highlights

There are more than forty playable characters in Capcom vs. SNK 2 – Mark of the Millennium 2001. Aside from the familiar faces like the ones mentioned above, some new faces make their debuts in the game, like Eagle, Kyosuke Kogami, Yun Lee, Maki Genryusai, Rolento Schugerg, Chang Kohean, Rock Howard, Ryuhaku Todoh, Haohmaru, Athena Asamiya, and Hibiki Tabane.

The game has two mid-bosses, namely M. Bison from Capcom and Geese Howard from SNK. One of the conditions to fight them is that the player must earn 800 Groove Points at minimum.

As for the final bosses, there are also two of them, namely Akuma from Capcom and Rugal Bernstein from SNK. A minimum of 1000 Grove Points is one of the requirements that must be fulfilled to fight these opponents.

The most challenging of all opponents are the secret bosses. The high difficulty of defeating these bosses gives birth to an unofficial term known as SNK Boss Syndrome.

The secret boss from SNK is God Rugal who considers himself an ultimate being. He has a set of powerful attack and defense moves such as firing energy projectile, making his hands and legs as sharp as knives, injecting Orochi energy, teleport, performing Shun Goku Satsu, sensing nearby chi energy, and creating a shield to block ranged attacks.

The secret boss from Capcom is Shin Akuma. In Japan, this character is known as Shin Gouki. His overall power reaches a new height after obtaining Orochi Power gifted by Rugal Bernstein. The power is too much for him, though, that it drives him insane and his appearance changes drastically with his hair becomes white and his skin becomes much darker.

When he is in this form, he is so powerful that he can destroy an asteroid and split the seas in just one attack. Aside from giving him an incredible power, the form also enables him to execute advanced moves.

The player can also take control of Shin Akuma, but only after defeating the character. The difficulty level that the player selects in fighting him does not matter. As long as he is defeated at least once, he becomes a playable character afterward.

However, the unlocked Shin Akuma is not as strong as the CPU controlled version. The damage level he inflicts, for instance, is less harmful.
