Call of Duty – World at War – Final Fronts has four campaigns in total that are composed of 13 missions. It has a number of playable characters. The main characters that the player can play depends on the missions.

The game was also developed for other platforms, but the one made for PlayStation 2 has a different sets of missions. It was developed by Rebellion Developments, a video game developer founded in 1992.

Features and Highlights

Call of Duty – World at War – Final Fronts comes with four optional difficulty levels that range from Easy, Regular, Hardened, to the most difficult Veteran.

The four campaigns in Call of Duty – World at War – Final Fronts are War in the Pacific, Winter Offensive, Victory in Europe, and Victory in the Pacific.

The first mission is the easiest of all available missions as it is set to be the training level. The player is also introduced to the playable character named Joe Miller, who happens to forget to carry his weapon. The training includes picking up a rifle gun and shooting the scarecrows with it, using Thompson M1A1 to hit other targets, throwing a grenade into the barn, ducking, crawling, and so forth. By the end of the training, the player will know everything necessary to participate in the war.

Even though the first level is called “Basic Training”, the training is very short. The rest of the level sees the player fighting for victory in the battle against the Imperial Japanese Army.

As soon as the first battle is over, another fierce battle is waiting. In the Betio Assault mission, once the player lands at the beach, he is welcomed by Japanese machine guns firing at him and his squad. The player must eliminate enemies as many as possible to end the mission.

The following mission is where the player encounters suicide soldiers when trying to assist a friendly squad. If the attacks are successfully repelled, the next threat that the player has to deal with are enemy tanks. As soon as the player defeats the enemies, the mission ends.

The last mission is called Shuri Castle. There is only one objective in the mission, and that is to capture the castle, which is not an easy feat since enemies are everywhere. One of their most difficult attack patterns is an action known as banzai charge. The attacks are usually hard to predict as they happen when least expected. Reloading a gun, for example, opens the opportunity for enemies to perform a sudden attack.

Call of Duty – World at War – Final Fronts is the last piece of the series made for the PlayStation 2. It lacks multiplayer support but it is probably not as annoying as the poor artificial intelligence.

When you play the game, you might come across some friendly soldiers who act like they are eager to get themselves killed by the enemies. It doesn’t come as a surprise then that the video game has received many negative reviews.
