Call of Duty 3 supports both single player and multiplayer modes. The health recovery mechanic is similar to its predecessor where the player can stop firing and take cover to recover health while avoiding enemy fire.

Instead of controlling only one character during the game, the player will assume the roles of several characters. In the American campaign, for example, the playable character is Private Nichols, but the one in the British campaign is a different character.

Features and Highlights

While the health can be recovered using the same method like in the previous games, the player has a new combat ability, and that is to toss live grenades back at the enemy. It has to be done with caution, however, as it is a highly risky move.

The enemies are also smarter in the game. Not only they can attack with grenades, they can also do the same thing as the player, which is to toss back a live grenade at the player or another direction. And when they are cornered, sometimes they decide to retreat to find a cover. Consequently, the player has to act smart and fast to be able to defeat them completely.

Call of Duty 3 has 14 campaign levels in total, which include Saint-Lo, The Island, Laison River, Night Drop, The Black Baron, The Mace, Falaise Road, The Corridor of Death, and The Crossroad, among others.

In the Night Drop campaign level, James Doyle is the playable character with a mission that consists of three objectives. One of them is to destroy the anti-aircraft guns. His weapon is Sten, a submachine gun. Additionally, some weapons are obtainable in the campaign, such as MP40 and MG42.

There are specific events in Call of Duty 3 that force the player to get into hand-to-hand fights. The events occur in The Crossroad, Night Drop, The Corridor of Death, Saint-Lo, and Fuel Plant.

When a hand-to-hand fight takes place, the player need to press certain buttons according to the command. It is the only way to win the fight. Failing to follow the command means death to the player.

As for the weapons, there are plenty of them. Sidearms, machine guns, grenades, and even rocket launchers, among others. There are four types of grenades that the player can use to kill enemies: Model 24 Stielhandgranate, Smoke Grenade, M2 Fragmentation Grenade, and Sticky Grenade.

As for the equipment, there is Rifle Grenade, which is less powerful than a bazooka but easier to use for attacks. There are also Anti-Personnel Mine, binoculars for observation, and Syrette to save a critically wounded player.

Call of Duty 3 makes the enemies smarter so they are more difficult to defeat, more so if you select the hard difficulty level instead of the normal or easy one.

Regardless of the difficulty level, each playable campaign in the game puts the player and his squad at risk of losing their file if they fail to neutralize the threats. In conclusion, Call of Duty 3 is as amazing as its predecessors, if not more.
