Burnout 3 – Takedown is different from the previous titles. It is not just about dangerous driving anymore. In this third installment of the popular car racing series, you can do your worst to make your opponents crash, making the races even more exciting than ever.

67 vehicles are available in Burnout 3 – Takedown. The game also has many car events from the classic Race to Party Crash. Winning the events will earn you awards, unlock more events, and get new cars.

Features and Highlights

In the classic Race event, you compete against five opponents, and the one who finishes first wins the race. The amount of laps depends on the car and circuit. Your car has a speed booster that can be activated anytime you need it on the condition that its meter is not empty. In the previous installments, the boost cannot be used until the meter is full. In Burnout 3 – Takedown, you can use the boost immediately. The boost meter can even be extended.

The more reckless you drive, the faster you can fill the boost meter. Of all the available options, however, slamming your opponents until they crash is the quickest one. You can slam the opponents into a car or a wall. This action is called Takedown.

The opponents will be more aggressive after you slam them. If an opponent manages to cause you to crash, your boost will disappear and the size of boost meter will be restored to normal.

There are several methods to perform Takedowns, but only Signature Takedown split into a number of types such as Home Wrecker, Pillar Diller, Hit the SPlit, Tram Ram, Truck Torpedo, Paid the Price, Grapes of Wrath, Rumble in the Jungle, and a lot more. The last mentioned is probably the most interesting circuit for anyone who like to have a car race in a jungle.

Eliminator is similar to the classic Race where you also race in five laps, but the last racer on each lap gets eliminated immediately. Face Off pits you against one rival and the winner gets the opposing car. The most boring event or mode is perhaps the Burning Lap because you race alone. The opponent in this event is the predetermined time lap which you have to beat to get one of the medals.

Road Rage is a car race event where you have to score takedowns as many as possible within the time limit to earn the Bronze or Silver or Gold medal. Players who participate in the event tend to use the heaviest cars but there is a type of cars that have poor takedown ability despite being one of the heaviest cars.

The introduction of Takedown makes this game more violent than the previous ones. When you successfully make an opponent crashes, the game shows the crash in a slow motion effect. The boost that can be used immediately is also a nice improvement.
